Russian is a Slavic language spoken by over 260 million people and is the official language of Russia and Belarus. It is closely related to other Slavic languages, such as Ukrainian and Polish.

Russian uses the Cyrillic script, which consists of 33 letters, including 10 vowels and 23 consonants. The language is known for its complex grammar, which includes six cases for nouns and adjectives, and a variety of verb aspects, which indicate the completion of an action.

How hard is it to learn Russian?

Russian has a complex grammar and is written in the Cyrillic alphabet, which may be unfamiliar to English speakers. However, there are some similarities between English and Russian, such as the use of the Roman alphabet for some words borrowed from English and the existence of cognates, words that are similar in both languages and have a common origin.

It can take an English speaker approximately 44 weeks of study to reach proficiency in Russian.
