In a whimsical tale of chance and curiosity, a wandering king stumbles upon a woodcutter and his wife, toiling away in the forest. Overhearing their conversation, the king offers the hardworking couple a chance to live without labor. They are brought to the palace as a reward for their hard work, but they are forbidden to touch one covered plate. The wife's curiosity gets the best of her and she uncovers the plate, releasing a white mouse. The king punishes them for their disobedience and sends them back to the forest.
