The vain, evil queen looks into her magic mirror and discovers that her beautiful stepdaughter Snow White is now "the fairest in the land." At first, the queen sends her gamekeeper to kill Snow White, but the gamekeeper is unable to commit the murder. Snow White escapes into the forest, where she discovers a cottage inhabited by seven dwarves. The evil queen's magic mirror informs her that Snow White is still alive, the queen disguises herself as a peasant woman to poison Snow White herself.
