A vain and wicked queen looks into a magic mirror and sees that her beautiful daughter-in-law, Snow White, is now "the most beautiful in the land". At first, the queen sends a hunter to kill Snow White, but he is unable to commit the murder Snow White flees into the forest, where she discovers a cottage inhabited by seven dwarfs. The evil queen's magic mirror tells her that Snow White is still alive, and the queen disguises herself as a peasant to poison Snow White.
