In "The Emperor's New Clothes," a vain king hires two weavers who claim they can make the most beautiful fabric that can only be seen by the worthy and intelligent. The weavers work on empty looms and swindle the king and his subjects, who all pretend to see the nonexistent cloth out of fear of being seen as unworthy or foolish. The king parades naked through the streets in a procession, but a child blurts out that he is not wearing any clothes, and the crowd breaks out in laughter.
