A vain, evil queen consults her magic mirror and finds that her beautiful stepdaughter, Snow White, is now "the fairest in the land". Initially, the queen sends her huntsman to kill Snow White, but he is unable to commit the murder. Snow White flees into the forest where she discovers a cottage inhabited by seven dwarves. The Evil Queen's magic mirror tells her that Snow White is still alive, and the Queen disguises herself as a peasant to poison Snow White herself.
