Bluebeard is a rich man with a blue beard so ugly that people avoid him. He seeks to marry one of the daughters of a widow in the neighborhood, but they are horrified by his appearance. He invites the family to his castle and entertains them for a week, and the older daughter decides to marry him. Bluebeard leaves on a trip, leaving his new wife the keys to every room except for one. She succumbs to temptation and enters the forbidden chamber, where she finds the corpses of Bluebeard's previous wives. She drops the key in shock, and it becomes stained with blood that won't come off. When Bluebeard returns and discovers what happened, he threatens to kill her. Can she escape before it's too late?
